2012 – 2013 y.  Feasibility Study for the Management of V1 NPP Primary Circuit Components (D7.1)

Client: JAVYS (Jadrova Vyradovacia Spolocnost, a.s.)

Financing: BIDSF (Bohunice International Decommissioning Support Fund)

Description of the Project:

The project D7.1 takes place in Slovak Republic on the Bohunice V1 NPP and on the Mochovce NRR.

The main objectives of the Project D7.1 are to develop and compare the alternative solutions for the management of the Large Components of Primary Circuits of the two Units of V1 NPP towards their dismantling and subsequent waste management, provide Client’s decision-makers with sufficient information on high-ranked alternatives resulting from their comparative analysis, in order to justify their acceptance for implementation and elaboration of the PO SAR Upgrade Proposal for concerned nuclear installations.

Our company is the leader of a partnership which also includes Lithuanian Energy Institute (Lithuania), All-Russian Research Institute for Nuclear Plants Operation (Russian Federation) and RELKO Ltd (Slovakia) as sub-contractor.

BIDSF Contract No. 019 4 001 between the partners headed by JSC "Specialus montažas-NTP" and JAVYS came into force on 25th of July, 2012.

2008 - 2012 y.  “Landfill” facility for short-lived very low level waste (B19)

Employer:  SOE „Ignalina NPP“

Investment: EU Structural Funds. Ignalina Programme

Description of the project:

Technical and detailed designs of the Buffer Storage with capacity of up to 4000 m3 were developed and the facility itself was built within the framework of Ignalina NPP decommissioning and will be operated on the INPP territory. This is an enclosed structure covering 0.2 ha and equipped with a characterization facility enabling radiological measurement of delivered waste. It is also provided with systems for transporting and temporarily storing waste.

On April 25-27, 2012 the facility successfully underwent “hot” tests (tests employing real waste). The tests were carried out to the extent intended by the program agreed by VATESI. In the course of the tests containers and packages holding radioactive waste were delivered to the storage, underwent radiological measurements and emplacement for temporary storage. The tests have shown the possibility of safe handling of all types of radioactive waste packages intended by the project and compliance of facility performance with design values.

Within the framework of the same project (B19) we have also developed technical and detailed designs of the Landfill repository for short-lived very low level waste. The projects successfully passed two inspections and agreement by Visaginas municipality.

To fulfill its commitments as a general contractor our company cooperates with the following partners (subcontractors): Lithuanian Energy Institute (Lithuania), Pramprojektas, JSC (Lithuania), Vilstata, JSC (Lithuania), Hidroprojektas, JSC (Lithuania), and RADICO, LLC (Russia).

2012 - 2014 y.  Evaluation of the Material Backlog and Radiological Inventory of Kozloduy NPP Units 1 to 4

Client: Kozloduy NPP (Bulgaria)

Description of the Project:

The objective of the project is to carry out a detailed evaluation of the radiological status of the equipment, structures, compartments and the radioactive waste and assess the total radiological inventory and material backlog of the units under decommissioning.

This project is implemented by the Partnership consisting of: JSC “Specialus montažas-NTP” (Lithuania) (The Leader), Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (Lithuania), Lithuanian Energy Institute (Lithuania), Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Bulgaria), ATP - Atomtoploproekt Ltd. (Bulgaria), OAO VNIIAES – JSC All-Russian Research institute for Nuclear Power Plant Operation (Russia).

Partners combined their expertise with respective invaluable knowledge of the field and experience of working on similar projects.

Services consist of four sections as follows:

Section 1: Evaluation of the induced activity for Units 1 to 4;

Section 2: Calculation of the radioactive contamination for Units 1 to 4, including Steam Generators;

Section 3: Radiological investigation for Units 3&4;

Section 4: Radiological characterization of RAW back-log from Units 1-4.

The results of the Project will be used for the decommissioning Units 1 to 4 and the management of the waste streams generated.
